The Livingston Faith and Race Project
The Faith and Race Project (FRP) is a coalition of people from different faith traditions who hope, pray and work together to promote love, respect and inclusion of people of all races in our community. Our events and activities aim to increase understanding of and opposition to all forms of racism, to promote respect for people of all races, and to oppose inequity and exclusion in Livingston County.

The Faith and Race Project is not part of any organization. Being part of our journey to being a more welcoming and just community is FREE. There are no dues or membership fees. Our activities are created and developed by our core group of unpaid volunteers.
There are many worthy social justice issues. The Faith and Race Project focuses our limited time and energy of participants on the issues of race to maximize its impact in this sphere. Our independence also allows us to take political action to change unjust laws, policies and practices, and to identify and support public leaders who share our values of racial equity and inclusion.
The Livingston Faith and Race Project offers a variety events and activities:
Dialog, Discernment and Prayer about the intersection and interdependence of our faith and race relationsFuture activities of the Faith and Race Project will continue to focus on racial understanding, justice and inclusion in our community through activities that have five overlapping objectives:
Public Demonstrations: opportunities for all citizens of our community to unite in love for people of all races, such as walking together in parades behind a banner proclaiming we are “united on love for all people.”
Presentations about the history of race relations in Livingston County and other related topics
Programs about race and racism that help people understand the roots and realities of prejudice and racism in our communities and even in our own unconscious biases as well as how to transform ourselves into active anti-racists and our communities into more loving, just and welcoming places.
Political action to support candidates, laws and policies that are just and equitable. Examples include elimination of racial deed restrictions that remain in place today (unenforceable, but still offensive), inclusion of truthful racial history in schools, and the creation of affordable housing and efficient public transportation for all who wish to visit or reside in our county.
Movies, Performances and Book Clubs related to the history of race and racism in America.
Diversity Dividends: Exploring specific advantages for all of us that are derived when barriers to racial inclusion and biases in our community are ended.
All residents who desire a community that respects and welcomes all people are invited to participate in the work and the activities of the Faith and Race Project.
